Free Trade Wharf

Free Trade Wharf is a development of 208 flats built in the late 1980s. It is located on the north bank of the River Thames and commands great views of the city. Our clients had bought a one bedroom flat on the fourth floor, which had a (poorly built, damp and cold) conservatory extension on the roof terrace overlooking the river. We demolished the conservatory and in its place built a well-insulated lightweight extension to house the kitchen/ dining room, with sliding folding doors opening onto the roof terrace. The former kitchen was then remodelled to become the second bedroom. (The flat is much more valuable now as it has two bedrooms.) Other rooms were remodelled too. Two new windows were added to the living room, which increased the light and allowed even more magnificent views over the river below. A new floor of bamboo united the space.
