The client lives in a substantial 1930's end of terrace house, which had a small kitchen with a separate small utility room. We were asked to redesign the kitchen and extend the utility room to provide a dining area and generally give order to the clutter. The newly extended dining space now opens directly onto the garden with large French doors. The new roof is of translucent insulated glass, which brings a high level of diffused light into the adjacent kitchen area. A screen of flush cupboards within this room conceals general storage, the boiler, a washing machine, a vacuum cleaner and broom space as well as a children's art materials store. The room uses ecologically sound materials and bespoke storage solutions with the kitchen seen as a made to measure piece of furniture. |
