Jones Wood Architects

GENERAL INFORMATION ABOUT THE PRACTICE

Jones Wood Architects was set up in January 1997. We have now successfully completed a variety of projects with both private and public clients in projects ranging in value up to £3.9 million. We have also successfully completed contemporary additions and alterations to listed buildings.

The practice is dedicated to producing an architecture that integrates excellence in design with the disciplines of low environmental impact. Contextual compatibility is given high importance so a dominant 'house style' is avoided. Nevertheless our work is characterised by a thoughtful choice of materials carefully detailed to reflect modern times. In particular the careful and controlled use of natural light and the use of both long views out of the main spaces and framed views within the main spaces are recurring themes within our work. These basic design priorities visually extend the feeling of 'space' and result in calm and light rooms, which look as good years on as they do in the initial photographs.

Clarity in design results from a consistent design approach, which best fits the given brief. We prefer to develop the brief in conjunction with the client and/or the end user. We see that this simple approach results in a high level of client satisfaction and a number of repeat appointments. The attention to detail required for the smaller project is maintained in larger projects. Details that provide value for money are preferred and 'buildability' is considered at all stages of design. The practice prides itself in providing a full and efficient design service on a par with much bigger practices. We regard computers as a positive design tool and use the latest technology in office management and computer aided design.
